Workshop on the topic "Reducing gender-based discrimination within police structures in BiH" - II term was held in Konjic
The second workshop on the topic "Raising awareness of gender-based discrimination in police structures in BiH" was held in Konjic (26-27 July, 2023), which was attended by police officers from police authorities throughout BiH (middle and upper management).
The workshop was realized as part of the project "Reducing gender-based discrimination within police structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which is implemented by the Association for Aid and Development "HAJDE" in cooperation with the "policewomen's Network" Association, with the financial support of the Federal Republic of Germany represented by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The aim of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with basic forms of discrimination, legal regulations and protection mechanisms, as well as gender equality issues in the police.
Special emphasis was placed on legal regulations and obligations that require institutions to undertake activities with the aim of improving gender equality and combating gender-based discrimination.
The workshop was assessed as useful in multiple ways, and was also used for the exchange of experience and personal examples of the participants, as well as for the mutual networking of colleagues from different police structures.
As part of the same project, a series of workshops will be held in the coming period with the aim of strengthening the professional competences and developing the leadership skills of policewomen. At the same time, there will be a public opinion survey on the role and importance of women in police work and the challenges they face, as well as a media campaign aimed at promoting women in the police and police call in general.
