A Word from the Chairwomen

Welcome to the “Police Women’s Network” Associaton website. Here you can find basic information about the Association's mission and goals, organizational structure and ongoing activities in the field of gender equality in the police structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina. You can also find information on current projects and other interesting particulars related to the Association’s activities, as well as other details related to the integration of gender issues in all spheres of private and public life in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The website will contribute increasing the responsibility and transparency of our work.

The aim of this Association is to gather as many policewomen as possible, strengthen their capacities, raise awareness on gender equality in the police structures and recognize the role and contribution of policewomen in the police work.

The Association aspires to a state in which the police will be the mirror of society and represent all its diversity. If women make up 50% of a state, than they should be present in the same proportion in the police in order to adequatelly respond to the security needs of both men and women.

Equal representation of men and women should be present in all spheres of the police work and at all levels of decision making. People should be appointed to certain positions in accordance with their abilities and affinities, without the stereotypical division of work on male and female occupations.

The "Police Women's network" Association will continue to work intensively on breaking gender stereotypes and prejudices that being a police official is an exclusively male vocation and on raising awareness of gender equality, gender-based violence and gender discrimination in the police structures at all levels of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with particular emphasis on increasing the number of women at all, especially in managerial positions.

All policewomen are highly motivated to work on achieving the goals of the Association, in order to become a reliable and recognized partner in the field of gender equality at national and international level, especially bearing in mind that achieving gender equality is one of the priorities that B&H needs to meet in the process of European integration.

We invite you to join us on this journey.
