Workshop in the MOI of Una-Sana Canton - expanding membership

Today, on May 23, 2019, a workshop titled "Raising awareness on gender equality in police structures in B&H" took place in the official premises of the MOI of the Una-Sana Canton, which was  attended by 20 policewomen from the MOI of Una-Sana Canton and Border Police. The workshop was realized by the "Policewomen's Network" Association  with the support of the OSCE Mission to B&H.

The research titled "Human Rights Defender in Police Structures in B&H - Mechanisms for the Protection against Discrimination" was presented at the workshop. It was emphasized that policewomen are underrepresented in police structures at all levels in B&H and that there are almost no women on managerial or decision-making positions.

The workshop focused on issues related to gender and gender equality in police structures, as well as exposure to discrimination in the workplace with a focus on gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

Bearing in mind the fact that there is a high dark number of cases of discrimination in police structures in B&H, the focus was on raising awareness of this problem, getting familiar with basic forms of discrimination and mechanisms of protection.

The same day a meeting was held with the members and potential members of the Association, where further directions of work and plans for the future were presented. All present policewomen expressed interest in joining the membership.

Bearing in mind that the mission of the Association, among other things, is to raise awareness of gender equality, networking and expansion of membership, today's workshop and meeting were rated as useful in many ways.

"Policewomen's Network" Association decisively takes further activities in this direction, all with the aim of protecting the rights and integrity of policewomen, and achieving gender equality.
