Workshop "Gender equality in the police"

In the period from 20. to 21.03.2023., a workshop on the subject "Gender Equality in the Police" was held in Konjic, which was attended by new members of the "Policewomen's Network" Association. from various police bodies.

The training was organized within the framework of the project Strengthening the capacity of the "Policewomen's Network" Association, financially supported through the project Digitization and institutional and regional cooperation, which is financed by the Multilateral Trust Fund, in which the governments of Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, France, Norway and the Netherlands participate, with the support of the European Union, and implements the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The aim of the training is to familiarize new members with the mission, vision and goals of the Association, as well as the activities carried out in the past period. Also, to network with the leadership and members of the police authorities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop covered basic topics in the field of gender equality, gender roles, stereotypes and prejudices, as well as the international and domestic legal framework for achieving gender equality and combating gender-based discrimination. Also, the situation in the field of gender equality in police bodies at all levels in BiH was presented.

After the presented topics, in a special session (group work), the participants had the opportunity to map the problems and challenges they face in the workplace from the aspect of gender equality and share their conclusions with the rest of the group.

The workshop was assessed as useful in many ways, both from the aspect of acquiring new knowledge, and the opportunity for mutual networking and exchange of experiences.
