Women, Peace and Security Chiefs of Defence Network Conference was held in Sarajevo

The Women, Peace and Security Chiefs of Defence Network Conference was held from 6 to 8 March 2019 in Sarajevo, organized by the Armed Forces of B&H and the British Embassy in B&H.

The host of the conference was the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF B&H, Colonel General Senad Masovic. Representatives of the Armed Forces of the region, including the Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for Gender Equality, Clare Hutchinson, the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Marty J.Bissel, attended the conferences, in front of the United Kingdom Department of Defense, Brigadier General Sarah Graham, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Defense and Security of BiH, and representatives of international and domestic organizations, agencies and associations dealing with issues in this field.

The conference was also attended by the Chairwomen of the "Policewomen's Network" Association Kristina Jozić, who participated in one of the panel discussions. She spoke about the activities of the Association in the field of gender equality in police structures in B&H and the challenges that policewomen face in their everyday work.

UK Ambassador to BiH Matthew Field in his opening speech said that the United Kingdom is fully committed to the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

"The stronger role of women is crucial for our armed forces to be as efficient and representative as possible. This leads to better operations, increasing human potential and achieving lasting peace", Ambassador Field pointed out.

This is the first conference of the mentioned network and aims to consider the implementation stage of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which refers to the promotion of gender equality, including the improvement of status and greater representation of women in institutions and organizations of defense and security, and the role of women in peacekeeping operations. Therefore, it is a great honor that the "Policewomen's Network" Association had the opportunity to contribute to its realization.
