Women in the Police: A Fight for Recognition

Women in the Police: A Fight for Recognition

In coordination with the "Policewomen's Network" Association, MediaServis (Diskriminacija.ba) prepared a reportage on policewomen in B&H entitled "Women in the Police: A Fight for Recognition", which was published today (April 24, 2019).

It is alleged that women employed in police structures in B&H, on a daily basis, demonstrate with their work and dedication that they can perform this job as well as their male counterparts. However,  women in the police do not easily reach higher positions, and there are almost no women on decision making positions.

Policewomen from the MOI of the Tuzla Canton and the Border Police of B&H, members of the "Policewomen's Network"Association took part in the reportage. They talked about everyday work in police, challenges of police profession, relations with colleagues, and more..

This reportage is a good example of promoting women in police structures on various jobs and police call in general, in order to break prejudices and stereotypes about the police profession as exclusively male and female as a weaker sex. The Association will continue to promote policewomen and their every day fight for equality.
