Third Workshop on Leadership Skills Development started today

Today (12/09/2019), on Jahorina Mountain, started a two-day Workshop on “Leadership Skills Development” which attended 35 policewomen from law enforcement agencies of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is the third Workshop implemented within the project “Strengthening Capacities of Policewomen – Potential Leaders”, which is supported by the United States Embassy.

The main goal of this Workshop is raising awareness of gender equality, development of leadership skills and empowering policewomen, which will help them in further professional development and career progress.

Within this Workshop the main areas related to gender issues will be processed, with the purpose to raise awareness of gender equality and the importance of equal representation of men and women on all positions and decision making levels in the security sector. Also, specific topics related to leadership will be covered, which will include styles of management, characteristics of leaders, business communication and the role of women in public life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as basic elements of public appearance and communication skills.

This Workshop is aimed at strengthening overall capacities of police agencies and creating a foundation for the promotion of higher number of policewomen on the higher positions, taking into account the fact that there are almost no women on decision making positions in police structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
