Raising awareness of gender equality in the Federal Police Administration
A one-day workshop titled "Raising awareness on gender equality in police structures in B&H" was held today (November 20, 2018) at the Police Academy of the FMUP in Sarajevo, attended by 20 policewomen from the Federal Police Administration. The workshop was realized by the "Policewomen's Network" Association with the support of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The focus of the workshop was to understand the concept of gender issues in general, the different roles and needs of men and women, and specifically addressed issues related to discrimination in the workplace with an emphasis on gender harassment and sexual harassment. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of these phenomena, the existing mechanisms of protection and to encourage the reporting of such cases, since it is evident that there is a dark number of cases of discrimination on various grounds in all police structures in BiH, as shown by the research carried out these year.
The Association expresses its gratitude to FMUP for supporting this activity, as well as our overall work.
Today's workshop has resulted in additional networking and connection of a number of new members to the Association, which is especially pleasing to us.
In the forthcoming period, workshops of this type will be organized in all police bodies in BiH, initially for policewomen and representatives of the Department of Internal Control, and then for all employees in police agencies with a focus on middle management.
