Promotion of the Manual "Gender Equality in Police Structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Training Program"
Today (July 9, 2021) a Round Table was held in Jahorina, at which the Manuel "Gender Equality in Police Structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Training Program" was promoted.
The round table was realized within the project "Police and Respect for Human Rights in BiH" funded by the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina and implemented by the"Policewomen's Network" Association and the Center for Security Studies in Sarajevo, as well as the Geneva Center for Security Sector Management in Geneva. The round table was attended by senior officials from 16 police agencies.
The author of the Manuel is Kristina Jozić, President of the "Policewomen's Network" Association who presented its contents, and the audience was addressed by Denis Hadžović, President of the Center for Security Studies, Benjamin Plevljak, Secretary General of the Center for Security Studies and Armin Kržalić, University Professor.
The specific Manuel contains a training program that will show step by step how to conduct a one-day workshop for police officers on gender equality and discrimination in the workplace, with a focus on sexual harassment and gender-based harassment. The development of the Manual was preceded by training for police officers (training for trainers), which was realized in the first phase of the project.
The goal is to include education on this topic as mandatory in the annual curriculum for police officers at all levels in BiH. Inclusion of the mentioned education in the annual plan and program of police agencies is one of the measures that will contribute to gender equality and suppression of gender discrimination in accordance with the obligations prescribed by the Law on Gender Equality in BiH and the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination in BiH.
