Celebrating 20 years of UN Resolution
President of the Association, Kristina Jozić, about the Resolution "Women, Peace and Security" 1325
Kristina Jozic, President of the "Policewomen's Network" Association, spoke about the importance of UN Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security" as part of the campaign to mark the 20th anniversary of UN Resolution 1325 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, conducted by the Academy for Women and financially supported by Austrian Embassy in BiH - Sarajevo / Österreichische Botschaft Sarajevo.
"Although we can state that in recent years we have a slightly larger number of women within police structures at all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is partly the result of certain planned activities in this field and in accordance with the specific Action Plan for the implementation of Resolution 1325, it is a worrying fact that policewomen are still underrepresented in police agencies at all levels of Bosnia and Herzegovina where that percentage ranges from 5 to 15 percent, so some average is 7.5 to 8 percent, which means that this is far from the recommended 40 percent to could talk about gender equality.
What is even more worrying, however, is precisely the fact that women are almost never in decision-making positions in police structures.
So, of the 16 police agencies that exist in Bosnia and Herzegovina, none are run by women "Kristina Jozić, President of the "Policewomen's Network" Association".
