Women who break gender stereotypes
Policewomen Milica Nikolić successfully completed the training for shooting instructor
From 23/05 to 10/06/2022, a three-week training for instructors "Handling Firearms and Shooting Skills" was held at the Agency for Education and Professional Training in Mostar, which was attended by ten police officers from the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH.
Among the participants in the training there was a policewomen, Milica Nikolić, who successfully finished all the planned exercises and obtained the Instructor's diploma. According to the curriculum, through theory, and mostly practice, participants have improved their knowledge, skills and competencies for planning, conducting and evaluating the results achieved during combat shooting, which knowledge will be used in their further work.
Otherwise, Milica Nikolić is working as a policewomen in the Intervention and Support Unit and is a member of the "Policewomen's Network" Association. Since women everywhere in the world, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, are a rarity in the special support units, our colleague breaks down stereotypes and prejudices about women in the police every day with her example and professional performance and shows that women are a valuable potential in policing in general, and that they can perform all police tasks, even the most challenging ones.
The "Policewomen's Network" Association strives to continuously promote successful women in the police and to show citizens and the general public that women can perform a variety of police jobs and that they are necessary for the efficient work of the police. Also, in this way we want to encourage young girls and women to apply for public advertisements for admission to police structures where they can have a successful career and contribute to the security of our society.
We also express our gratitude to the director of DKPT BiH, Vilić Mirsad, for supporting the policewomen and the work of the "Policewomen's Network" Association.
