Policewomen from whole BiH at the Workshop on the role of policewomen in the process of reducing irregular migration
On September 23 and 24, 2021, a two-day workshop was held in Konjic on subject "The Role of Policewomen in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Process of Reducing Irregular Migration - Raising Awareness of Gender Equality and Discrimination in the Police Structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina", attended by policewomen from 16 police agencies from whole BiH .
The workshop is organized by the "Policewomen's Network" Association and Hilfswerk International in BiH" within the project "Reducing Irregular Migration in the EU by Strengthening the Capacity of Structures Related to Migration in the Western Balkans" funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Federal Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria (BMI).
This is the first workshop of this type within a specific project, which aims to highlight the significant role of women in the process of reducing irregular migration, given the current migrant crisis and the need to strengthen the overall capacity of police in BiH in response to the migrant crisis and accompanying security challenges. Also, topics related to gender equality and gender-based discrimination within police structures in BiH were addressed.
A second workshop of this type will be held in November this year. Within the same project, a workshop on "The role of policewomen in the process of reducing irregular migration - procedures for investigating and proving the crimes of human trafficking and human trafficking" will be organized in the coming period.
