Policewomen attending Workshop named “Development of leadership skills”

Two-day Workshop named “Development of leadership skills”  began today (18 th of July 2019) on Jahorina Mountain. The worhshop is attended by 30 policewomen from law enforcement agencies of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Workshop is being implemented within the project “Strengthening Capacities of Policewomen – Potential Leaders”, which is supported by United States Embassy.

The main goal of this Workshop is raising awareness of gender equality, development of leadership skills and empowering policewomen, which will help them in further professional development and career progress.

This Workshop will process the main areas related to gender issues with the purpose to raise awareness of gender equality and importance of equal representation of men and women on all positions and levels in the security sector. Also, specific topics related to leadership will be covered, which will include stiles of management, characteristics of leaders, business communication and the role of woman in public life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as basic elements of public appereance and communication skills.

Leaders in different fields of work and esteemed experts in this area Amna Popovac, Marina Bakic and Sanela Dujkovic were among the educators in this Workshop.

"Policewomen's Network" Association is planning to realize this type of workshops for around 100 policewomen from police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a part of above mentioned project, with the purpose of building the capacities of police agencies and creating presumtions for promotion of  as many policewomen as possible, taking into a consideration the fact that there is almost none policewomen on senior and managerial positions in police structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
