Minister Katica is committed to improving the position of policewomen in the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior

Today, a meeting was held in the official premises of the Ministry of the Interior of the Sarajevo Canton, which was attended by Minister Admir Katica and the President of the "Policewomen's Network" Association  Kristina Jozić.

The activities of the "Policewomen's Network" Association were discussed at the meeting, which are aimed at raising awareness about gender equality and improving the position of women in police structures. It was pointed out that the MOI of Sarajevo Canton has about 10% of policewomen. According to the representation of female officers in its composition, the MOI of Sarajevo Canton is the third in a row, after SIPA and FUP.

The President of the "Policewomen's Network" Association , Kristina Jozić, emphasized that policewomen are still underrepresented in police bodies at all levels in BiH, where the number ranges from 5-15%, which is significantly below the 40%, to be able to talk about gender equality.

Minister Katica expressed his readiness to initiate the introduction of special education on the topic of gender equality in the police in the annual plan and program of the MOI of the Sarajevo Canton for 2022, as mandatory for all employees.
It was emphasized that continuous education on this topic will contribute to breaking prejudices and stereotypes about the police as an exclusively "male" profession and women as a "weaker" sex, which will contribute to the improvement of the position of women in the police.

Also, a workshop on gender equality was announced for policewomen of the MOI of Sarajevo Canton , which is planned for September 29, 2021, organized by the  Association and with the support of the OSCE Mission to BiH. The aim of the workshop is to empower policewomen, network them and expand the Mission of the Association.

Minister Katica expressed her commitment to providing support in the further work of the "Policewomen's Network" Association and undertaking concrete activities at the level of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior with the aim of increasing the number of women in general, and especially in senior and managerial positions.
