Assembly of "Policewomen's Network" Association was held in Jahorina mountain
Assembly of "Policewomen's Network" Association was held in Jahorina mountain yesterday (14/06/2019).
Management of the Association presented Activities rapport of 2018. which was unanimously adopted. The conclusion is that 2018. was highly successful and the Association has accomplished significant results that contributed in becoming a solid partner in national and international level, in the field of gender equality in police structures in B&H and in fight against gender-based violence.
In 2018. and first half of 2019., Management of Association has visited a number of police agencies (Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H, SIPA, Border Police of B&H, Directorate of Federal Police, Brcko District Police, MOI of the Tuzla Canton, MOI of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, MOI of the Zenica - Doboj Canton, MOI of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton, MOI of the Una-Sana Canton and Federal Judicial Police) where meetings were organized with members and potential members of the Association. That was also an opportunity to hold a one-day workshop entitled “Raising awareness of gender equality in police structures in B&H”, which contributed to expansion of membership on the level of every police agency.
Importance of changing the name of Association was especially underlined taking into account that the new name contains gender-sensitive language which is compatible with the mission of the Association. Importance of the establishment of web page and Facebook page of Association has been highlighted because it has made more visible and transparent all the work of the Association.
Significant cases of positive stories/reportages about Association has been made in the period of reporting, what was an opportunity to promote police vocation in general and presence of women in police structures, with the purpose to break the prejudices and stereotypes about police as a male occupation and women being weaker gender.
President of Association, Kristina Jozic highlighted that the Association made a request and has become a member of European network of policewomen (ENP) and that management of Association will be present on the next Assembly of ENP.
She also presented current projects of the Association, focused on development of leader skills and empowerment of policewomen that should lead to further professional improvement. She announced that the series of educational training on this topic will be conducted in the next three months (July, August and September) for about 100 policewomen.
In the end of Assembly, there was a discussion about future projects with the accent on straightening capacities of Association and activities to improve status of policewomen.
The eight Assembly of "Policewomen's Network" Association was supported by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
