A meeting was held with the head of the Office of the Police Commissioner of the Canton Sarajevo MOI
A working meeting with the Head of the Office of the Police Commissioner Mustafa Bešić was held today (June 17, 2020) in the official premises of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior, attended by Kristina Jozić, Chairwomen of the "Policewomen's Network" Association, and a representative of the Center for Security Studies, partner organization, Benjamin Plevljak.
The meeting discussed the planned activities of the Association for the current and next year, and the implementation of certain projects in cooperation with partner domestic and international organizations. The focus of these projects is on improving gender equality in police agencies in BiH with special emphasis on increasing the number of women in senior and managerial positions, and the need to educate senior officials on gender equality and gender discrimination.
The current legal regulations requiring the institutions to adopt appropriate programs of measures with the aim of achieving gender equality were discussed, as well as the overall efforts of the Association in this field, whose ultimate goal is to strengthen the overall capacity of the police. It was agreed that it is necessary to undertake continuous activities in the field of education of police officers with the aim of breaking gender stereotypes and prejudices that are deeply rooted in our society.
Head of the Office of the Police Commissioner Mr. Besic pointed out that the KS Ministry of the Interior will gladly take part in the presented projects, as well as other activities aimed at integrating a gender perspective into all spheres of police work, which will ultimately contribute to the efficiency of the police body.
