30 investigators trained to investigate cases of gender based discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace

A two-day workshop on "Handling cases of gender based discrimination and sexual harassment within the police" ended in Konjic today. The workshop was attended by police officers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is the second workshop of this type, which trained a total of 30 police investigators.

The workshop is realized within the project "Fight against gender-based violence in police structures in BiH", which is implemented by the "Policewomen's Network" Association with the support of the US Embassy.

The training is aimed at police officers employed in the competent departments for investigating cases of discrimination within the police and covers all relevant topics that will help them identify cases of discrimination, timely investigation and proving of the same, as well as the protection of the the victim.

The results of the conducted research showed that there is a high dark number of cases of discrimination in the police, with a focus on gender based discrimination and sexual harassment.

Given the fact that the police should be an example to other institutions in the fight against gender-based violence, both when taking measures and actions within their competence, and within their ranks, it is absolutely unacceptable that such cases are not reported and prosecuted by the police.
