Strengthening the capacity of policewomen - potential leaders
The project entitled "Strengthening the capacity of policewomen - potential leaders" was implemented in 2019 with the support of the US Embassy.
Within the mentioned project, from July to September 2019, about 100 policewomen successfully completed the training on the topic "Development of leadership skills". The aim of this training is to raise awareness of gender equality, develop leadership skills and empower policewomen, which will help them in further professional development and career advancement.
The training covered basic areas related to gender issues, with the aim of raising awareness of gender equality and the importance of equal participation of men and women in all positions and levels of decision-making in the security sector.
Also, specific topics related to leadership, leadership styles, leadership characteristics, business communication and the role of women in the public life of BiH, as well as the basics of public appearance and communication with the media were covered.
The workshops were rated as very useful by all participants. In addition to pointing out the usefulness of the topics covered in further work and professional advancement, the importance of networking with policewomen from a large number of police agencies from all levels in BiH, mutual acquaintance and exchange of experiences was especially emphasized.
As part of this project, a round table on "Leaders in the security sector" was held, which was attended by 50 policewomen from law enforcement agencies from all levels in BiH. The Roundtable was addressed by the highest-ranking security and defense officers who shared their experiences with policewomen, focusing on the challenges they faced during their professional careers and ways to overcome them, providing practical advice to colleagues.
During 2019, about 150 policewomen took part in the activities implemented within the project, which were aimed at developing leadership skills and strengthening the capacity of policewomen, which will help them in further professional development and progress in career.
