The final workshop on the topic "Gender equality in the Directorate for Indirect Taxation" was successfully completed.
In the period from 21 to 23 February 2023, in Konjic, a final workshop on "Gender Equality in UINO BiH" was held for management officers.
In the past two years, a series of workshops on "Gender equality in the UINO BiH" was held in the organization of UNDP, in which representatives of the "Policewomen's Network" Association took part.
The activities were started within the Prevention of Illegal Trade and Trafficking in Arms (HALT) project, and continued within the DIRC Project. The participants of the workshop were initially employed in various tasks in Directorate, and in the end they were also management officers. Members of the "Policewomen's Network" Association took part as presenters and moderators, together with representatives of the Coordination Committee for SALW in BiH and the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH.
One of the participants in these trainings was Lejla Bejtić, vice president of the "Policewomen's Network" Association, who points out her satisfaction on the realised activities. Lejla is a long-time member of the Association and has been involved in issues of gender equality and gender-based violence in police structures for many years. "Despite the fact that the topic is very close to me, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in this area. Also, I realized that colleagues in related institutions face very similar problems as we do in police structures. Mutual exchange of knowledge and experience is very important, which will help us all in our further work", says Lejla, stating that the special value of these workshops is networking with colleagues from different sectors.
The President of the Association, Kristina Jozić, participated in the relevant workshops as a presenter, during which she spoke about issues of gender equality and gender-based violence within institutions and presented the activities of the Association in terms of organizing and institutional action. She points out that it was a pleasure for her to speak about these topics and contribute to raising the awareness of the officers of the UINA BiH. "Although most of the participants attended an education on this topic for the first time, it is certain that they did not go home the same. Each workshop was interesting in its own way, and I am especially happy that we managed to empower and encourage a large number of women to stand up for their rights and an equal position in all jobs, especially operational ones," says Kristina, stating that she was certainly raised awareness of sexual and gender-based harassment in the workplace and that participants are familiar with protection mechanisms.
