STRENGTHENING THE CAPACITIES
Policewomen attending training on project writing and strategic planning - Group II
A three-day workshop for policewomen on the subject "Project writing and strategic planning" began today (October 26, 2021) in Jahorina. The training is realized within the project "Prevention and reduction of the presence of illegal weapons in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with partners, including the police authorities in BiH and the "Policewomen's Network" Association. This is the second gorup that attends education on this topic. In the following period, the training will be continued for both groups (module II), and eventually about 30 members of the Association will be trained to write projects.
This project aims at comprehensive action to raise public awareness of the dangers of illegal possession of firearms and education on ways to identify individual and collective security threats. In addition, this project seeks to contribute to behavior change and general awareness of the threats posed by the illegal possession of weapons to families, the community and society as a whole.
The specific training on project writing and strategic planning is conducted with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the "Policewomen's Network" Association and thus the overall capacity of police bodies in BiH. In the following period, the continuation of the training will be organized, and finally, with the help of an expert, concrete project proposals will be made.
The entire project was supported through the UN Multilateral Partnership Fund (MPTF) for the implementation of the Roadmap for the Sustainable Solution of Illegal Possession, Abuse and Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and their ammunition in the Western Balkans. Currently, the following countries are donors of the MPTF: Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway with the support of the EU.
