"Improving the position of women in the customs sector - VI Workshop"

In the period from 23 to 25 February, 2022 a workshop titled "Improving the position of women in the customs sector" was held on Vlašić, organized by UNDP and UNODC. The workshop was organized within the project Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Arms (HALT). This is the sixth workshop of this type in which members of the "Policewomen's Network" Association took part. The participants of the workshop were the leading officers of the custom service (heads of departments).

Having in mind the experience of the "Policewomen's Network" Association in terms of organization and institutional activities, the President of the Association, Kristina Jozić, presented experiences in networking women in the security sector and positive practices in promoting gender equality. Also, the situation regarding gender equality in police structures in BiH was presented, as well as the activities of the Association that have been undertaken in recent years as examples of good practice. The workshop discussed discrimination in the workplace, with a focus on gender-based harassment and sexual harassment, as well as existing protection mechanisms. Also, through group work, current problems in the customs sector in terms of gender equality were identified and proposals for overcoming them.

This activity aims to strengthen the promotion of gender equality in the BiH Customs Service through a series of activities aimed at the affirmation of women in this sector and the establishment of appropriate mechanisms to combat discrimination in the workplace.
